NetNZ is expanding its digital learning portfolio for 2025 with several innovative new courses, each led by experienced educators from renowned New Zealand schools. These additions strengthen NetNZ’s commitment to providing quality distance education across diverse subject areas.

New Visual Arts Program Embraces Creative Freedom

The Catlins Area School introduces a comprehensive full-year Visual Arts course for Year 11 and 12 students. Led by Angela McAlpine, this multi-level program allows students to explore their artistic interests through personally chosen themes. Students will study professional artists’ techniques, develop observational drawing skills, and work with various mediums including painting, printmaking, and sculpture.

What makes this new course unique is its flexibility – it accommodates both NCEA Level 1 and 2 students, as well as non-NCEA participants. The course fee is $1,976.00 for the full year, providing students with comprehensive arts education regardless of their location.

New Heritage Languages Program Celebrates Cultural Identity

NetNZ in partnership with Logan Park High School debuts an innovative Heritage Languages and Cultures program under the guidance of veteran educator Sue Kim. With over 20 years of teaching experience in New Zealand, Sue brings her expertise in Korean, Japanese, and Digital Technology to this new cultural initiative.

“Your language and my language are expressions of identity,” says Sue Kim, who has been living in New Zealand since 1996. Beyond her teaching credentials, Sue’s background as a martial arts expert adds a unique dimension to her understanding of cultural disciplines. This full-year course offers NCEA assessment opportunities across Levels 1-3 at no cost to students, making cultural education accessible to all.

New “Nailing Numeracy” Program Targets NCEA Success

Responding to current NCEA requirements, Twizel Area School launches a targeted 12-week program led by Principal Kate Staniford. With more than 20 years of mathematics teaching experience in Wales and New Zealand, Kate has designed this course specifically to help Year 12 and 13 students meet the NCEA Level 1 Numeracy Co-requisite.

The program offers two cohorts in 2025:

  • First Cohort: February 13th – May 15th

  • Second Cohort: May 29th – August 28th

Priced at $750.00, this focused course helps students develop essential mathematical skills through practical applications, from financial literacy to spatial awareness and statistical understanding.
