I have been Principal of Opotiki College for 10 years (2003 -2012) and Foundation Principal of Hobsonville Point Secondary School in Auckland (2012 – 2023). I now run a small Education Consultancy HMWLead (How Might We Lead). Schools need transforming and I’m keen to help.
Join Maurie as he shares his leadership model – Moral Purpose, Courage and Open to Learning and how this can lay the foundation for leading according to a set of ‘die-in-the-ditch’ principles. We will explore a case study of this in practice at Hobsonville – how it supported us in our decision at HPSS to not pursue NCEA L1 with our Year 11s.
